A Seattle native and 22 year REALTOR, JJ began his real estate career as an exclusive, on-site, new home builder representative receiving numerous sales awards for the communities in which he sold as a member of the Windermere Builder Services team. In 1991 he added the listing and selling of pre-owned homes to his business plan. His market areas currently include Bellevue, Kirkland, Issaquah, Sammamish and Redmond. About 60% of his business remains smaller volume builder clients.

JJ is an active member of the Master Builder’s Association of King and Snohomish Counties (MBA) since 1985, and has received both regional MAME awards and two National Gold awards from the NAHB for his sales, advertising and marketing programs on behalf of his personal marketing, builder clients and the Master Builders Association (MBA). JJ has served as a MAME judge in Oregon, Canada and Southern California and was selected as a National's judge by the NAHB.

JJ, a Life Spike, has served the MBA as Chair of the Parade of Homes, Children’s Playhouses (4 years), and as the Chair of the MBA Sales & Marketing Council (SMC), his SMC was presented with the National Gold award for the best SMC in the country from the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). He has also served as Secretary on the MBA Board of Directors. In 1999, JJ received the Associate Member of the Year from the MBA, and he was a finalist for the MBA Associate of the Century award.

In 1994, he was honored with the International Visionary Award which recognized 62 elite professionals in North America in the field of residential real estate advertising and marketing. JJ, a state approved instructor, created and teaches a one day seminar for REALTORS on how to list, sell, market and advertise new home construction for the Washington REALTORS and for the Building Industry of Washington (BIAW). He frequently does outside consulting work with builders, and is a popular speaker requested at REALTOR events.

After 18 years with Windermere Real Estate, JJ joined Re/MAX Northwest REALTORS in 2002 and was honored recently with an induction into the RE/MAX Hall Of Fame.

JJ played soccer in college and also played professionally in Germany. His hobby is HO scale model trains and his home layout has been published in an international model train publication. JJ is married to Patt Sellen, also a REALTOR, and his business partner. His stepson Jeff Bell, is a mortgage banker with Cobalt Mortgage in Kirkland.
