Absolutely, and Absolutely!
No doubt, most of you have heard of MySpace and Facebook. For those that haven’t, they are essentially personal web pages where friends can exchange quips, photos and remain in contact without actually having human interaction. To fill the remaining gap in instant communication, Twitter can update your friends as to your every move. Surreal.
Aside from creating an online posse of friends that you never really have to see, there are some real benefits to using these sites to market your organization. Try this… If you are already on Facebook do a search for Coca Cola. The page itself is not all that impressive, but what is amazing are the number of people that have signed up as “fans” of Coke. 3,775,732 people see the Coca Cola brand every time this page is updated or when they log into their account. What’s the big deal? It costs Coke $0 to reach 3,775,732 people at their beck and call (operating costs aside of course). The cool part is that you can do the exact same thing for the exact same cost, $0.00 !!!!!!!
Is it just for us “young people”? NOPE. I just read an article in Ideas magazine stating that in the first SIX months of 2009, “…the 35 – 54 year old demographic increased their use of these sites 276.4%. The 55+ demo is not that far behind with a 194.3% growth rate.” These two groups are right smack dab in every builders target demographic.
With that in mind, I set out on my own journey to create a Facebook page for Lochwood-Lozier Custom Homes. We downloaded quite a few high-resolution photographs of our spectacular luxury homes in both Clyde Hill and Bellevue. In the very near future I have some tricks up my sleeve to keep the content fresh and using this as a tool to keep people involved in our brand.
The catch is that you will have to add yourself as one of our “fans” to see the rest! Take a look and let me know what you think!
