The #1 Secret of Selling -- It's really not a secret although most sales men and women act like they don't know about it. It's not only, not a secret, but you see it in action everyday. It works on you and me and 99% of the people we know. We just don't pay attention to it because, I don't know, we probably don't want to admit it's true.

So what's this so-called secret? The answer is...

You want to present whatever it is you're selling in a way that self-centeredly answers the question, "What's in it for ME?" (ME being the person you are trying to persuade.)

Whether it's a home buyer or home seller, it doesn't matter. It could be something as simple as getting a kid to brush his teeth or eat her vegetables. It could be as complex as persuading a killer whale to allow humans to ride on his nose.

In every case the overriding motivational factor is the answer to the question, "What's in it for me?"

If you study successful sales professionals, parents, animal trainers and even con-men, the one thing they all have in common is their ability to effectively answer the "What's in it for me?" question. Starting with this question and presenting as many answers as you can is the key to improving your sales success.
